Erosion. This rock has been there for centuries, indifferent. The cloud above it, by contrast, is nothing more than an accident of vapor that will have vanished within the hour. The sand retains the mark of the receding tide, damp and compact. It is an unequal encounter between what remains and what passes. The landscape does not need a spectator to exist; it simply endures time and wind.
